I agree with him as majority leader!

Senator Murphy is a voice of reason in a chaotic senate and house. Thank you for being here, staying and working to fight the corruption. Wish I lived in Connecticut.

Make it illegal for anyone who cannot actually vote in a particular election to make a contribution to a candidate in that election. Only voters who can vote for a candidate are allowed to make a contribution to that candidate. No PACs, no wealthy donors from elsewhere, no special interest contributions. Only voters.

Totally agree 👍🏼

Chris Murphy is everything right about a politician. He is genuine, focused, well informed, calm but firm, and honest. I wish more were like him.

We are aware of enough of their high crimes, espionage, and corruption. What We The People want to hear is how you Democrats in Congress plan to get them out?!? IMO: a Coordinated Simultaneous Mass Arrest of this entire regime including the corrupt scotus6! Then we will prosecute them via Article 2 Section 4 of our Constitution!

The stock trading ban is a joke. They've been talking about it forever, but there is no deep explanation as to how they could get it to work, and no progress. I want to hear real plans with real teeth. It is also an almost insignificant part of the problem.

Democrats are great at talking but increasing numbers of American are not convinced and mad as hell that we have no real representation.

Insider Trading is already illegal. Any politician trading on Insider info can already be prosecuted. If only this DOJ would enforce the laws and not the whims of Trump.

If a person in the private sector did this they would be jailed!

How to be a “We the People” politician in 5 easy steps:

Get out and talk to the people (grassroots boots on the ground), listen and find out what their needs are.

(Include: working and middle class in rural, suburban and urban communities.)

Shape policy around the people’s needs

Avoid billionaire and corporate donations.

(You report to the people; therefore you will not be owned by the billionaires/corporations)

Activate a vast number of volunteers

(We the People want to be involved.  Find & organize things we can to do)

Repeat - all year long -  every year

(Opposed to only election years)

I've liked most of what I've heard from Sen. Chris Murphy. I'm listening. Democrats and the MAGA opposition have their work cut out of them. I've been reading former Republican David Frum's book "Trumpocracy" that is like a list of toxically fatal problems with the country that have been able to or allowed to fester to what we have today. The money, the media, the Supreme Court - we need a lot of people to be able to stand up and reach both sides in order to put this into retreat, and frankly, it looks pretty grim. From what I have heard, Mr. Murphy seems to understand this.

start with repealing citizens united

Kudos to both of you. But let me suggest the problem is deeper than Citizen’s United. It is, quite simply, that we have never protected our politics from the corrosive effects of money. The Western European and Scandinavian Parliaments have done a much better job, usually involving: Full Federal Funding of Elections, every candidate gets the same amount. Ban on Corporate contributions (sorry Dems) because their mandate is only to produce profits for their shareholders. Why should they be allowed to warp public policy for their benefit. And usually, Universal or mandatory voting which obviates the power of gerrymanders. If we want Legislators to be able to vote their consciences instead of their political survival, we need to underwrite their campaigns and hold them to strict transparency. Anything less is a band-aid. And, as a life-long Democrat, the fact that we do not share the blame for many anti-union, anti-minimum wage votes; for abandoning non-union urban and rural blue-collar workers gives us much culpability for the election of Donald Trump. Until we come to terms with our relationship to money—The Gordian knot binding our system to school shootings, opiod pandemics, climate change etc—we are just priming our voters for another disappointment and resentment.

ANOTHER frightening example of the times we live in. I wish these techno brothers would be run out of town after they serve their jail time for poisoning our children. Going after vulnerable children..that’s low. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Mr. Murphy. I’d like to speak to one of your points about jobs: someone can maybe find a low paying job, but jobs that they trained for, went to college & into debt for like tech CANNOT IN TR!MPS economy get a damn job! That is the reality. The tech bros are firing thousands of jobs so they can make money hand over fist using UNREGULATED AI.
