Very impressive. Thank you for your courage to stand up against what is WRONG and to fight for what is RIGHT!

Thank you for standing up to the intimidation and securing the votes of all eligible voters. This is a defining moment for our democracy. I’m 80 and have always voted. This year obstacles are many but we the people need to stand up to the truth.

"Undocumented immigrants in California gained the right to apply for a driver's license on January 1, 2015, following the implementation of Assembly Bill 60 (AB 60). Known as the Safe and Responsible Driver Act, this law allows residents to obtain a license regardless of immigration status."

I'm a moderate Democrat and taught adult migrants, immigrants, and visitors English for years near L.A. In other words, I like and respect most foreign-born folks. But I foresaw problems way back when this bill was enacted. Having obtained the CA Real ID and later renewed it, I noted on the back of the application a block in which applicants can apply to vote. A warning in red states that it''s illegal to apply to vote if one isn't a legal citizen. I scoffed and am still laughing at that. I simply don't trust that each and every signature will be vetted against DHS databases to verify citizenship status. My distrust is based on cuts to state and federal agencies and political and personal agendas of DMV employees and possibly laziness or overwork might disincentivize DMV employees to be thorough. Because so many candidates and issues on ballots affect to lives of the foreign-born this is too important to leave to faith in signatures on the back of applications. My suggestion is that proof of citizenship be required to vote, aligning with proof of citizenship required to obtain a passport.
