He did err on one thing. As a Senator, he involved himself in the effort to confirm Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court of this once, pretty good country.
His career in the Senate was nothing that I was inspired by! But he’s pretty much the opposite of Trump in that he seems to be very empathetic. Pretty much taking it to the extreme of figuring out how to get along well with Strom Thurmond. Definitely his Senate career was right leaning mainstream. Yes, the Anita Hill Clarence Thomas hearings were low point but not the only one!
But for the 2020 election the circular firing squad screwed its head on right and understood that Genghis Khan would be a better choice than Donald Trump.. The Progressive wing of the Democratic Party came through for him and he listened to us. Because of Gaza, this will always ring hollow but with that insurmountable exception much to my amazement he otherwise would have been the bestDemocratic president we had since FDR. Of course, that means the best president because all of the Republicans sucked! Eisenhower the least till you look at his covert support of Neo -colonialism. And it’s easy to argue and I would probably agree that Eisenhower coming off the wildly popular New Deal presidencies understood it would be political suicide to swing back to the Republican positions as fully as they all I’m sure couldn’t wait to.
Clearly that’s debatable and I’m not interested in the debate But if you wanna argue whether he was effective or not, that’s a pretty easy debate.
Clearly, Biden‘s Intellectual presence had moments of disconnect. But reality is he assembled an effective Team and still had the skills to bring the likes of Joe Manchin along on the Inflation Reduction Act. His administration accomplished more, than most, if not all modern presidencies. Sadly, his legacy and ?Harris‘s presidential bid ? wrecked on the shoals of The Gaza genocide!
